The Niagara Indoor Pickleball Association (NIPA) will host a complimentary one-hour mental-performance workshop on Wednesday November 26 at 6:00pm. The session is inspired by the book Claim Your Brain by mental-health researcher, speaker and author Jocelyn Pepe.
Open to NIPA members and the general public, the workshop teaches practical ways to improve focus, steady nerves, sharpen decision-making and recover quickly after mistakes. The strategies apply both on the pickleball court and in daily life.
“Pickleball is a mental game as much as a physical one,” says author Jocelyn Pepe. “Players often know what they want to do but in pressure moments their brain gets in the way. The good news is that mental performance is trainable.”
The session covers research-supported skills including managing stress, using reset techniques and strengthening confidence. Participants will also learn how negative thinking directly reduces performance by narrowing attention, raising tension and interrupting clear decision-making. Tools for reframing unhelpful thoughts are presented in simple practical ways.
NIPA president James Fraser says the club wants to offer meaningful value to both players and the wider community.“Our members and guests love improving their game but we also care deeply about their overall wellbeing. This workshop offers lessons that help people play smarter and feel better in everyday life. We’re excited to bring something so relevant to our community.”
The event will take place in the NIPA Social Room. Registration and inquiries can be sent to: nipapickleball@gmail.com.
