NIPA SUNDAY RECREATIONAL LEAGUE

About the League

  • Fun recreational league, with just the right amount of rivalry
  • Three-tiered brackets
  • Games rotated Sunday afternoons at 2pm, 4pm and 6pm
  • League will run for 12 weeks starting January 11 and concluding on March 29
  • Maximum of 12 players per time slot

Cost

Cost is $72 per player, paid up front in advance for the 12-week league ($5 court fee plus $1 prize pool per week)

Game Information

  • Players pick a card numbered Ace (1) – Queen (12) at the beginning of each session
    • That is player number for the night
    • Schedule stays the same each week.  Player numbers randomize play.  Schedule is posted on the bulletin board and stage.
  • It is recommended to show up approximately 15 minutes early to pick your card, stretch and prep for your session.
  • 5-minute warmup at the beginning of the session
  • Games are first to 11 points or 11 minutes in length, whichever comes first
  • Points are tracked after each game
    • Win, lose or tie a game the player gets the points the team finished with during that game
    • The final score indicates the points each player gets for that game (e.g. Score 11 – 4, winning players both get 11, losing players both get 4)
    • Points are tallied at the end of the night
    • Points are tallied until the end of the season
    • If you can’t play one week, find a spare and notify convenor
    • Spares play at no cost as court and prize money is covered by league member

Prizes and Season End Dinner

  • Prizes will be awarded at The League dinner (date and location to be determined by league members)
  • Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each bracket
    • 1ST place winner $70
    • 2nd place winner $50
    • 3rd place winner $24

Registration is open and will be on time-stamped first come first serve basis.  To register, email Steve at nipaTheLeague@gmail.com.  The first 36 will automatically be entered into The League.   Players will be notified via email to confirm registration.  Players will be provided with e-transfer information for advanced payment due by December 31.  Note players in The League must be members of NIPA, Pickleball Canada and Pickleball Ontario.
