Niagara Indoor Pickleball Association (NIPA) held an Open House on Saturday May 24 to take advantage of the large crowd drawn to the fourth annual Fenwick Market this past weekend.
“Since the Fenwick Market was using the property at Concordia Academy, home to NIPA, for its main parking lot, it was an excellent opportunity to promote the sport of pickleball and our Club,” said James Fraser, President of NIPA.
The Open House featured ongoing demo games played by NIPA members from 10am – 4pm. People visiting the market were invited to step into the gym to watch the games, then encouraged to visit the welcome tent by the parking entrance to find out more information about pickleball, membership or upcoming Beginner Clinics.
Two Beginner Clinics scheduled for next month were promoted. Each Clinic consists of two, two-hour sessions on Monday evenings from 6-8pm at a cost of $25, which is refunded against NIPA membership fee if registrants choose to join the Club. Each Clinic is capped at eight participants and registration is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Upcoming Beginner Clinics with availability are June 9/16 and June 23/30.
The conversion rate from Clinic Attendee to NIPA Membership is over 75% because most people who try the sport get immediately addicted.
The Open House also offered a discounted membership fee of $50 from June to December, plus the regular $5 per two-hour play session.
NIPA is a non-profit organization run entirely by member volunteers and is an official affiliate of Pickleball Ontario. Its first branch, located in Concordia Academy at 1165 Centre Street in Fenwick, first opened its doors in October 2024 and now boasts of 179 members.
